Page 12 of this week's paper is filled with tricks, and how ironic that it's all about religion.
The top of the page reads, in huge letters: 'PRAYER PRESSURE: MPs may be asked to dump word of the Lord'
Shock! Horror! If I was still Christian, I'd be outraged by this headline. 'How dare they ignore the proven word of God!' I'd exclaim.
Well it turns out the actual article is nothing like that. It opens with:
LOWER House Speaker [...] has called for debate on whether the Lord's Prayer, read daily at the opening of Federal Parliament, should be replaced by an acknowledgement of traditional Aboriginal owners of the land. What a joke.
The very NEXT article is like this:
ATHEISTS PLAN TO ATTACK
ANTI-RELIGIOUS propaganda could soon be plastered across buses and trains as part of a dramatic atheist campaign.
...HELL no.
They are actually referring to this. The article mentions further down the real reason for the campaign and shit, but, propaganda? How dare they! It's a suggestion, not a downright statement. 'There's PROBABLY no God. Now stop worrying.' It's not like 'Jesus is watching you, drive safely.' The usage of 'propaganda' here is in no way justified. I've never even SEEN this paper use that word before.
RAGE.
And of course the last article on the page.
BAPTIST HALLOWEEN NIGHTMARE...Stranger danger, fair enough. But, BEGGING? Come on.
TRICK-OR-TREATING is an unhealthy introduction to begging and can expose children to stranger danger, say some religious leaders.
There's always someone, isn't there! I find it hilarious how the Christians are always denouncing Halloween for 'its paganistic origins' when their own religion ain't much better. In fact it's PROVEN that most aspects of Christianity come from paganism. Even the entire idea of Christmas, its date, etc., were taken up when the Crusades ran through and slaughtered everyone, and were adopted so that converts had more shit to relate to. What a load of bull. Hypocrites. (there's my hypocritical statement for this post)
[...]
Pastor Bryant also denounced Halloween for its paganistic origins, which "do not belong in our society."
"Halloween is not compatible with the Christian faith [...] As Baptists, we base what we do upon the Bible and we would believe Jesus has defeated those powers of darkness, so we don't need to have these kinds of activities."
Now here's a fascinating article from the only person on the Sunday Times team actually worth reading...the Opinion column in the Sunday Times Magazine, courtesy of one Tom Percy, QC.
Wait, QC? QUEEN'S COMMISSION? Shit.
Here is the full article.

I was originally going to make this another 'belated news' post, but I shan't for now. Can't be arsed, and I really should be studying.
Any Christians offended by this post should be reminded whose blog you're reading. Nonetheless if you would like me to tone down my Christianity-bashing any more, please contact me with a hearty email.
